The 100 ft. View

There is a satellite fuse box (4) located under the seat that contains the 5 amp rear lighting fuse. It is attached to a bracket on the cooling bottle. Remove the satellite fuse box cap to inspect or replace fuses.

1. To take off the seat grab the front edge closest to the gas tank and pull upward. If it is not coming off gently move it side-to-side. Lift the seat to disengage the seat base from the rear frame.

2. The tail light fuses are NOT located in the main fuse box but you will need to move it aside. Press the fuse box release tab (2) inward and slide the fuse box (3) out to remove it from the bracket. Be careful with the attached harness wires.

3. Now comes the tricky part. There is little room to remove the cover of the satellite fuse holder. If you pull up on the fuse holder the plastic rivet holding it in place does not come out all the way. You will need to push it up and out from the side of the Scout between the cooling bottle heat shield and the exhaust manifold. I used a razor to cut a little of the rivet off first.

4. Pull the cover out and down to free up enough room to remove the 5amp fuse. I positioned a large flat head screwdriver on the fuse box to keep it from moving while I pulled.
